Libraries: The Past as a Prelude: The Future as a Challenge

The Mexican Library Association (AMBAC) invites its members, the library community in general, and anyone involved in the information industry to participate in our 41st Annual Conference “Libraries: The Past as a Prelude: The Future as a Challenge” that will take place from May 3-5, 2010 in the city of Zacatecas in the state of Zacatecas, Mexico.

Those who are interested can participate in the academic programs, the commercial exhibit area and/or the educational workshops that will take place as part of the conference. The guidelines for participants in the various aspects of this event are available on the conference web site (www.ambac.org.mx). All proposals should be sent to trabajos@ambac.org.mx to the attention of the organizers for that specific section of the conference. The forms of participation consist of the following:

Selected Presentations: The proposals for written submissions/presentations will be part of the open sessions within the conference and will be selected by an evaluation committee designated by the Association.

Invited Presentations: These are presenters that have been invited directly by any of the sections within AMBAC. The President will also have one special Invited Presentation.

Student Presentations: Students from all library schools are invited to participate with presentations or poster sessions. As in past years, there will be a special award for the best student presentation.

Poster Sessions: Participants can propose posters that will be included in the general sessions. There will be a special location within the conference for mounting these poster sessions. (Please see the respective instructions on the web page for poster formats, including size, style, etc.)

Technology Forum Presentations: Vendors and participants in the commercial exhibit area will have the opportunity to provide short academic presentations as part of the Technology Forum.

Commercial Exhibit Area: All vendors, associations and librarians are invited to participate in the exhibit area that will be available to display their information and products. Please contact Maria Asuncion Mendoza mamb@ulsa.mx or Hector Cid correo@ambac.org.mx.

Workshops: Anyone interested in facilitating a workshop for conference attendees should send their proposals to Víctor Cid vjcid@colmex.mx Secretary of AMBAC.

Membership Note: The authors of the presentations, posters and workshops should be active members in the AMBAC association. Please ensure that your membership is active prior to the opening of the conference.

Dates: The deadline for the receipt of proposals is February 5, 2010 and the notification of acceptance and the announcement of selected presentations will be made on the AMBAC web page on March 15, 2010.
